The Bible Meets Technology
Here's a wallpaper-free post for you today.
Jericho and I are both "gadget" people. We really enjoy our music playlists, as well as all the fun technology gadgets that go with them. We started with iPods, and now we both have iTouches that we love (although the itch for the iPhone is strong in both of us).
This week I downloaded Bible software onto our iTouches so we could have the Bible with us whenever we needed it. We had to try a couple of different applications before we got one that had just what we wanted, but we settled on the Tecarta NIV Bible. One thing we especially like is how you can select the verses. On the screen you see three wheels, side-by-side (like you would see on a slot machine). One wheel is labeled with the name of the Bible book, one with the chapter numbers, and one with the verses. You just flick your finger on the wheel to spin it around to where you want it to be, and find your verse this way.
Of course, another feature of the iTouch is that you can shake it to make these wheels spin around by themselves. Thus, you have an electronic version of "Bible Roulette", where, when seeking wisdom, you let your Bible fall open, put your finger on a verse, and then take that verse to heart as the message for you. Just shake and obey - it's just that easy!
Actually, we didn't use it for that, but did play the game of shaking the verse picker and seeing who knew where the verse was located in the Bible. (Jason won.)
The wonders of technology. It truly is amazing.
"Shake and Obey,
For there's no other way,
To be happy in Jesus,
But to Shake and Obey."
Yes, I figured it was only a matter of time before someone broke into song over that...
